Staff jump at chance to help charity

Christmas jumpers are often worn with sufferance but workers at one St Andrews office were happy to don the cheery – and cheesy – knitwear in aid of a good cause.  Property and construction consultants Hardies had a Christmas jumper day throughout all 14 offices, with each member of staff paying more to wear their seasonal jersey.  The £125 raised was used to buy toys to donate to the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal, a cause the company has supported over the last five years.  Pictured are the St Andrews staff with a selection of the gifts bought.  Read more

Former pupils could help build schools

Two former Newbattle pupils could help build two new primary schools in Midlothian, thanks to construction consultant Hardies.  Kirsten O’Connor and Laura Falconer, who are being supported by the firm while they study at Napier University, could gain vital work experience on the new Gorebridge North and Bilston primary schools.  When the two pupils successfully complete their studies, Hardies will also guarantee each of them a full-time post for two years and support them through their RICS professional membership process to allow them to become chartered surveyors.
