Hardies (formerly The Binnie-McKenzie Partnership) provided Quantity Surveying Services of a 44,000 square foot extension over two levels to a laser manufacturing and research development facility at the West of Scotland Science Park, Glasgow.

The building was piled and the structure designed as to minimise any vibration due to the requirements of stability required for manufacturing research, development and testing of lasers.

The project included the construction, instalment testing and commissioning of a new 8,500 square foot class 1k clean room with specialised plant in the adjacent plant room, refurbishment and alteration to an existing 10k clean room with commercial changing facilities.

There are three research and development laboratories over approx 9,000 square feet with associated office, testing, plant and conference space. Externally a goods yard with loading ramps and lift, staff car parking, drainage, attenuation and a flood settlement pond were constructed.
