Housing Development Pittencrieff Street, Dunfermline
The project was developed on the Dunfermline western gateway site. The site is visually important and is on one of the main roads in and out of Dunfermline. The site was previously owned by Campion Homes Ltd and Fife Council. The Eastern part of the site was formerly a petrol filling station. The remainder of the site was home to tenement flats, which were demolished a number of years ago. The site was promoted for flats through Fife Council’s Development Brief for the area with main objectives being to provide a high quality housing development of affordable housing to the city centre, to promote high quality standards of planning and urban design, to enhance the western gateway to Dunfermline through distinctive contemporary architecture and to provide a strong building line along Pittencrieff Street to complement and enhance existing and future developments.
Hardies worked with Kingdom Housing Association as their Employer’s Agents and Quantity Surveyors to procure the development under a negotiated design and build contract with Campion Homes Ltd.
The development is of timber-framed construction in 5 no 4/5 storey blocks. All flats have enhanced fit out for mid-market rent. Under croft parking is provided in three of the blocks as a result of site constraints. The development is also provided with a toddlers play area.
Funding was obtained from Scottish Government, Private Finance, Fife Council’s 2nd Homes Council Tax and a contribution from Scottish Water.
