Craiglockhart Sports Centre

The existing Craiglockhart Sport Centre facilities had reached the end of its useful design life and membership had fallen below acceptable levels. The building had no heart or proper reception/meeting area, the gym was too small and had little natural light or ventilation, the dance studios were old and the flooring was in need of replacement, there were no squash facilities, the large games hall had been closed because of much needed repairs and the M&E services and plant needed replaced.

Hardies assisted Edinburgh Leisure to prepare the initial feasibility and business case and employed the other Design Team members directly to provide a on stop shop service to completely upgrade the existing facilities and to extend the building to provide a new entrance and reception area and to extend the gym facilities to open it up to the wonderful view across the local pond and park area.

The membership has grown to full capacity and is now one of the best used facilities in Edinburgh.
